چکیده
The monosulfides of the pyrrhotite omission series ([Formula: see text]) are important remanence carriers for paleomagnetic reconstruction Earth's crust and extraterrestrial materials. ferrimagnetic [Formula: text] polytypes endmembers, their stacking modulations full vacant layers generate different magnetic anisotropy properties due to cation-vacancy configurations. In this study, intergrown long-range ordered with four- threefold modulation, i.e., 4C 3C pyrrhotite, were prepared in a diffusion-driven process by quenching natural crystal randomized vacancies. addition, third constituent coherence lengths few nanometers, denoted * , was found that exhibits spin-glass behavior at about 10 K local anisotropies arising from vacancy-density variations. concomitant occurrence nano-scale spin disorder indicate competitive processes during formation. Incommensurate transverse anisotropy induced by disorder and spin-orbit-vibron coupling in Mn12 acetate
It has been shown within density-functional theory that in Mn12 acetate there are effects due to disorder by solvent molecules and a coupling between vibrational and electronic degrees of freedom. We calculate the in-plane principal axes of the second-order anisotropy caused by the second effect and compare them with those of the fourth-order anisotropy due to the first effect. We find that the...
متن کاملSpin-wave theory of exchange-induced anisotropy
It is shown that exchange interactions of spins across the boundary between ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic layers can cause a shift in the observed hysteresis loop of the ferromagnetic layer. The effect may be interpreted as a self-energy shift of each ferromagnetic spin due to emission and reabsorption of virtual antiferromagnetic spin waves. Emission of these waves by one ferromagnetic s...
متن کاملArtificially engineered Heusler ferrimagnetic superlattice exhibiting perpendicular magnetic anisotropy
To extend density limits in magnetic recording industry, two separate strategies were developed to build the storage bit in last decade, introduction of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) and adoption of ferrimagnetism/antiferromagnetism. Meanwhile, these properties significantly improve device performance, such as reducing spin-transfer torque energy consumption and decreasing signal-ampl...
متن کاملTemperature dependence of current-induced magnetization switching in spin valves with a ferrimagnetic CoGd free layer.
The temperature dependence of current-induced magnetization switching of ferrimagnetic CoGd free layers in spin valves is explored. At temperatures well above and well below the magnetization compensation temperature (T(MC)) of CoGd, a current flowing from the free layer to the CoFe fixed layer aligns the moments of the two layers parallel, and a current flowing in the opposite direction aligns...
متن کاملOptically induced spin disorder in YVO3
Yttrium vanadate (YVO3) is an interesting material for studying optically induced phase transitions because it exhibits a rich variety of coupled structural and correlated electronic phases. We show that optical excitation effectively decouples spin and magnetic order and results in rapid spin melting within 4 ps while orbital order survives for longer than 100 ps. Solid to solid phase transiti...
